Better known by the moniker “Tommy Cutlets,” New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito lived up to his nickname in his latest video collaboration with popular Italian-American influencer Meals by Cug as the two ranked their favorite Italian entrees and pasta dishes. Unsurprisingly, his mother’s chicken cutlets graced the top of the list.
“You can do anything with a cutlet,” proclaimed DeVito. “Sandwich or dinner.” Apparently, they also help you win football games as DeVito is on the heels of two straight victories against the Washington Commanders and New England Patriots. He is the first undrafted rookie quarterback to ever start and win a game against Bill Belichick and the first Giants quarterback to throw 5+ touchdowns in his first two starts since 1950.
It sounds like penne vodka may also have something to do with his success, as DeVito noted “It’s my No. 1, always.” However, the real way to his heart is a chicken vodka parmesan sandwich.
The former Illinois quarterback will aim to keep the win streak going as the Giants welcome the Green Bay Packers to MetLife Stadium on Monday. It will be just his second home game since becoming a starter and as a New Jersey native, the pressure will be on as his team makes one last push for the playoffs. Win or lose, though, there is no denying DeVito’s appeal. An Italian-American quarterback promoting his culture to this degree in New York of all places is a story that everyone can embrace. Come Monday night, even Green Bay Packers fans may be trading in their “cheesehead” hats for one that more closely resembles mozzarella.
It’s Tommy DeVito’s world, we’re just living in it.
