Christmas Eve Recap- The Ladies’ Favorite Drinks for All Year Round

The holiday's are always over too soon, however, it doesn't mean that your holiday drinks have to over too! Here's a recap of the Martirano girls drink recipes from this Christmas that could also be drank all year round.

Le Donne

In my family, we take mixology very seriously, especially us Martirano girls: my mom, sister, and me. Here’s a recap of our favorite Italian drink recipes that we still drink throughout the year.

BEVANDE

Bella's Limoncello Spritz

I got the inspiration for this recipe from my hometown Italian restaurant, it was so good but it was missing something… Limoncello! My favorite limoncello to use will always be Fabrizia that produces authentic limoncello and more with Sicilian lemons! What’s there not to love?

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 oz Fabrizia limoncello
  • 1/2 oz cranberry juice
  • Prosecco
  • Fresh cranberries and rosemary for garnish

DIRECTIONS

  1. Fill a glass with ice cubes to chill.
  2. In a shaker, combine limoncello and cranberry juice.
  3. Shake the mixture well to combine and chill the ingredients.
  4. Pour mixture into the glass over the ice.
  5. Top off the drink with Prosecco.
  6. Gently stir and garnish with cranberries and a sprig of rosemary.
  7. Enjoy!
Feel free to adjust proportion to suit your taste preferences. Adding simple syrup or gin can also spice this drink up.

Nina's Espresso Martini

To know Nina, my sister, is to know her love for espresso martinis. It’s the perfect mix of Italian perfection and sweetness. The secret to her recipe? Use Italian products, of course! Here’s her recipe:

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 Shot of Tito’s
  • 1 Shot of coffee liqueur (Caffè Borghetti is a great brand)
  • 1 oz freshly brewed and cooled Italian espresso
  • Melted Chocolate
  • Marshmallows & Peppermint (For the Holiday’s)
  • Coffee beans

DIRECTIONS

  1. Chill the glass in the freezer.
  2. In a shaker, combine vodka, coffee liqueur, and freshly brewed and cooled espresso.
  3. Add ice cubes to the shaker and shake to chill and combine the ingredients.
  4. Strain the mixture into the glass.
  5. Garnish with coffee beans, or in this case for the holidays, peppermint and marshmallows.
  6. Sip and enjoy.
Nina’s pro tip includes rimming the glass in chocolate! This drink is sure to impress.

Mamma's Sweet Aperol Spritz

The Martirano ladies LOVE their aperol spritz, but sometimes the bitterness is too much. So my mom created her version of a sweet spin spritz. The original recipe can be found below.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 oz Aperol
  • 3 oz Prosecco
  • 1 1/2 oz fresh grape fruit juice
  • 1 oz Pellegrino
  • Fresh orange slices

DIRECTIONS

  1.  Fill a wine glass with ice cubes.
  2. Pour in Aperol, Prosecco, and fresh grape fruit juice.
  3. Add Pellegrino to sweeten the mix (adjust other measurements based on your preference).
  4. Gently stir ingredients together.
  5. Garnish with fresh orange slices if you please.
  6. Salute!
This sweet twist on the classic Aperol Spritz is perfect for a refreshing beverage. The original recipe can be found on Guiliana Rancic’s Instagram.
