The 74th annual Sanremo Music Festival is almost here! The dates for this year’s Sanremo will span from Tuesday, February 6th through Saturday, February 10th, 2024. The highly anticipated televised song competition takes place in San Remo, Italy at the Teatro Ariston and will feature 30 brand new songs by a variety of artists. Broadcast by RAI, viewers have the opportunity to see each song performed three times and select their favorite song ending in a final vote that includes three parts: public televote, social media vote and radio vote. Winning Sanremo is a significant accomplishment for any artist as it is a recognized launching pad for a successful musical career.
Hosted by Amadeus Sebastiani for the 5th and final year, the popular presenter will co-host with other favorites such as Marco Mengoni, (Sanremo’s 2023 winner) Giorgia, Teresa Mannino, Lorella Cuccarini and Rosario Fiorello. The five night series will also be sprinkled with special guest performances and entertainment.
Italian Americans have grown up watching Sanremo’s most prominent winners such as Claudio Villa and Domenico Modugno, both of which won four times, not to mention Andrea Bocelli, Laura Pausini and Eros Ramazzotti. Amadeus has stated plans to include a segment dedicated to Toto Cutugno, commemorating his noted participation in the festival in past seasons as well as his legacy.
Anyone lucky enough to attend the event live will be paying a hefty sun for the chance to watch. Tickets officially go on sale January 23rd starting at 110 euros for the first four evenings in outdoor seating and can reach over 1500 euro for the main hall including every night of the festival. Teatro Ariston, built in the 19th century, is a national landmark and is designed to allow for amazing acoustics. It can accommodate up to 2000 guests, making it an ideal venue for numerous performances and events such as Sanremo. Artists from around the world have graced the stage of Teatro Ariston including Adele, Elton John and Sting. Surely any evening spent at Teatro Ariston would be a magical experience never to be forgotten, but the Sanremo Music Festival would be the experience of a lifetime!
