Russell Crowe Reveals He Has Italian Roots and Will Perform at Sanremo!

Fans of the globally famous gladiator Russell Crowe will be thrilled to know that he will be revealing another talented side of himself on the Sanremo stage this year. The Oscar winner, known worldwide for his iconic role as Maximus Decimus Meridius, will be performing American Blues music with his band on the third evening of the music festival. This will not be the first time the actor sets foot on the Sanremo stage. He also made an appearance with host Raffaella Carra’ the same year his iconic cinematic Gladiator role made its debut in 2001. 

Crowe is also excited to connect to his Italian heritage. Although he is from New Zealand, he has recently realized through social media that his great-great-great-grandfather Luigi Ghezzo was born in Ascoli Piceno in 1829. Located in central Italy, this town is rich in history and is know for its architecture. Ghezzo immigrated to New Zealand in 1864. Crowe only recently discovered his ties to Italy but is grateful to have connections to a country he has always admired. 

Russell Crowe’s performance at Sanremo will be a testament to the magic of music and the festival’s ability to create unexpected and unforgettable moments.
