According to Daily Mail, a new survey from the language learning platform Babbel has named Italian as the best sounding accent. Italian has even surpassed French as the world’s most attractive language. People from the US, UK, France, Spanish, Italy, and Germany were asked which languages are perceived as the most ‘sexy’ and this lead to Italian earning the top spot.
France is getting the boot, literally, because of the “rise and fall of pitch” that Italian speakers have while speaking, which people can find alluring and attractive. Out of 6,000 responses, the survey also stated that German won for the most direct language while British English won for the most polite language. It also inferred that English speakers might be more drawn to the melody of a language such as French or Italian because of the octaves that are produced while somebody speaks the language. While other languages might sound more direct or harsh, Italian comes off as natural and soothing to those who are not native to it. What do you think?
