Are you even Italian if you didn't get scolded for doing these things growing up? 😂 You guys voted let's take a look at the results!
1. Never Skip Family Dinner
Maybe it was just my family, but every night was family dinner night, not just Sunday’s. My only excuse to get out of a family dinner but either because I had a school activity or basketball practice, same went for my siblings. Was it like this in your house?
2. No Sleepovers, EVER
Want to sleepover over at your friends house growing up? Forget about it! Never going to happen in an Italian house. The only time I was ever allowed to have a sleepover growing up was only was with my cousins, and if I wanted to have a sleepover with a classmate it had to be at my house. My parents explained it as if they knew the parents well then MAYBE you can have one, but even then, no! Because you never know who they have in their house. I love this rule now as an adult, what do you think?
3. "This Isn't A Hotel"
The amount of times I heard this one growing up, oh my goodness! Wanting to leave, stop home, and go back out again lead to getting sent to my room and being told “this is not a hotel!” Hilarious to think about because I guess I did treat it like a hotel growing up haha!
4. Never Show Up Empty Handed
Whether you’re going to a friend’s house, a dinner party or just about anything you are to ALWAYS bring something. A box of cannoli, a bottle of wine, you name it. It is the polite thing to do, as well as the respectful thing to do to show that person you are grateful for their hospitality or time.
5. No Boys In Your Room
This might only be a rule for girls, but THIS WAS SUCH A THING! Even in my grown age, I am not allowed to have my boyfriend in my room unless the door is WIDE OPEN. Boys are a no, no! Did your parents let boys go in your room?
6. Turn The Lights Off
Do I even have to explain this one? I could be eating and my dad will come into the room and turn the lights off so I’m essentially eating in a dark room🤣.
7. Want Something? Clean Something!
If you want to go out or ask for permission on something it is always a good idea to clean the bathroom, sweep the floor even 🤷.
