The Garisenda Tower was built a long, long time ago, around 900 years back. It was a busy time in Bologna. But the tower didn’t stay straight for long. Now, it leans a little more than the famous Tower of Pisa.
Not too long ago, people had to stay away from the tower because experts were checking if it might fall down. They found out it was in danger of falling, so they made a plan to save it.
They’re going to use some special tools that were once used to help the Leaning Tower of Pisa. These tools will help keep the Garisenda Tower from leaning too much. The mayor of Bologna said this will also let people visit another tower right next to it, called the Asinelli Tower.
Fixing the Garisenda Tower will take some time, about half a year, and a lot of money. But they have a good plan. They will use big steel supports and make the tower’s walls stronger with a special mix, similar to what was used when the tower was first built.
The Garisenda Tower is not as famous as the Tower of Pisa, but it’s still very special. It’s even mentioned in a famous book from a long time ago. People in Bologna love this tower, even if it leans a little.
They’re working hard to make sure the Garisenda Tower can stay leaning just the right amount – safe, but still interesting to see.
