What is La Pasquetta?

What are your plans for La Pasquetta? If you are like many Italians, the day will be celebrated outdoors, having a picnic with friends and family, enjoying Easter leftovers. On this “Little Easter” Monday immediately after Easter, people enjoy sunshine and spring weather on beaches and parks.

The day is also sometimes referred to as Lunedi dell’Angelo or Monday of the Angels. It was on this day that after the two Marys found the tomb of Jesus empty, the angels came to comfort them.

The festive menu for this day often includes Easter leftovers with some added treats. Easter bread is a favorite along with hard boiled eggs and baked frittata. Cold cuts, cheeses, breads, desserts and of plenty of wine round out the meal for an exceptional day! The point of the day is to relax and enjoy!
