The Equalizer Three: All Things Italian

For those who say that the third movie of the series is now streaming on Netflix, before watch know this: The scenery of this film is everything. Despite the violence and themes of the Mafia, I would highly recommend this movie to those who have a strong stomach but appreciation for the natural beauty of Italy.

So, where was it filmed? The movie utilized locations in Rome and Campania to capture the essence of the film’s setting on the Amalfi Coast. The plot is like I mentioned set in Italy but it starts in a secluded winery in Sicily. This is where Robert McCall kills crime enforcer Lorenzo Vitale and ends up facing the ruthless Italian Mafia syndicated known as the Camorra. Known for its incredibly violent and criminal crimes, the movie is said to accurately portray the inner workings of this syndicate including their involvement with drug trafficking, money laundering, kidnapping, murder, and more.

Beyond just the overall plot of the movie, the main character reflected and vocalized his love for living in Italy. He enjoyed sitting in the local café where he became friends with the owner, and other families of the neighborhood. These was a strong sense of unity within this neighborhood as all the people looked out for one another, despite the constant fear in which they were living it. With that being said, the people made the best of their situation and tried their best to remain happy, and positive and this is something that McCall recognizes as well, urging him to help the community.

  1. The Campania / Amalfi Coast Location is Breathtaking … in Equalizer 3

The third, final sequel and action thriller that continues the journey of a man who understands violence, now trying to finally put that history behind him, while placing him out of his element that reveals quite literally just how far he is willing to go on behalf of innocent people … that have suffered quietly under the Black Hand of the local Mafia syndicate.

Now, on a quest to find solace, reconciliation with his past assassin role and to enjoy the little things that bring a certain modicum of belated happiness … while on a airbnb vacay in a remote, charming Italian village by-the-sea … he’s flawless.

Director Antione Fuqua impresses the masses again, along with the writers who highlight the historical brutal Italian Mafia syndicate origins, and their devastating impact on even the smallest, yet, vulnerable village communities.

Equalizer 3 rounds out this unexpected trilogy … the cinematography is exceptional, perhaps a nod to legendary Italian cinematography, Vittorio Storaro (The Conformist, The Last Emperor, and, Apocalypse Now )

Denzel Washington, has ventured into the International Cinema arena, with his signature charisma, cool demeanor, and, badass action … and turns the page on this sequel.
