Originally started in 1927, this annual race has become a worldwide phenomenon. Spanning 1000 miles or “Mille Miglia,” with over 400 vintage cars this 5 day event delivers in excitement and adrenaline! The race became popular early on because of the famous car brands that participated such as Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and Porsche. Today, the only cars that qualify to participate must be made prior to 1957 and had to be part of the original race.
The route for the race this year begins in Brescia, heading to Rome and returning to Brescia. The race will travel through Padova, San Marino, L’ Aquila and Bologna. Roads throughout Italy will be closed for this event beginning June 11th and ending June 15th. Those racing are expected to arrive in Rome June 13th. Spectators love to gather on Via Veneto to watch the incoming racers and beautiful cars drive through the city.
Participants come from all over the world in anticipation of the greatest race in the world. If you are a car enthusiast this race would be a dream to attend! Last year’s winner, Andrea Vesco won the 2023 Mille Miglia for the 4th year in a row and 6th time overall! He and his co-equiper Fabio Salvinelli drove an Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS Zagato from 1929. Other cars in the race that won were the Lancia Lambda Spider Tipo 221s and a Bugatti T 40.
