The historic Italian naval ship, Amerigo Vespucci, is sailing to the Port of Los Angeles for a special cultural celebration. From July 3 to July 8, visitors can explore this renowned ship and enjoy a vast exhibition space dedicated to Italian culture.
About the Amerigo Vespucci
Launched in 1931, the Amerigo Vespucci is Italy’s oldest naval vessel and is often hailed as “the most beautiful ship in the world. This magnificent ship will be docked at the Port of Los Angeles, alongside the “Villaggio Italia, a large exhibition space showcasing various aspects of Italian heritage and culture.

Opening Ceremony and Notable Guests
30 a.m. with an opening ceremony led by Italy’s Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto. The event will also feature notable guests such as Mariangela Zappia, the Italian Ambassador to the U.S., Admiral Enrico Credendino, Chief of the Italian Navy, and prominent local figures like California State Treasurer Fiona Ma and Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn.
Highlights of the Event
• Music and Performances: Enjoy performances by members of the Sade band and students at Milan’s famous La Scala Conservatory.
• Cultural Exhibits: Explore exhibits like “Italia Geniale, which highlights Italian design, and “Divina Immersiva Eccellenza, dedicated to Italy’s wine traditions.
• Film Screenings: See great Italian productions like “I’m Captain” by Matteo Garrone or “Inno” by Giuseppe Tornatore.
• Culinary Experiences: Come on Sundays from noon until two o’clock at Eataly’s “Restaurant Italy” to taste dishes or watch culinary shows. Experience the flavors of Italy with the “Aperitivo all’Italiana” from 5 to 7:30 p.m. each evening.
• Sports Exhibits: See historic Olympic torches and meet athletes promoting the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
