Rome’s historic Palatine Stadium will host the annual Literature Festival this July from July 7th through the 16th. This outdoor event will honor Italian and International authors introducing their newest publications. The theme for 2024 is centered around acclaimed author and poet Elsa Morante, who is most well known for her novel La Storia. Morante went on to be awarded several notable recognitions for her various works and La Storia is included in the 100 Best Books of All Time List by the Bokklubben World Library. The novel is about the hardships of a half-Jewish widow living in Rome with her children during and after World War 2.
The festival is free to attendees and offers readings by famous authors, music and light effects. This event is highly supported by the entire theatrical and acting community. Reservations are required and the festivities begin each evening at 9:00 p.m. Rome’s public libraries, in collaboration with the City of Rome, organize this festival.
