Authorities have identified Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old Italian American firefighter, as the victim of a shooting at a Donald Trump rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 13. The incident resulted in Comperatore’s death and left two others critically injured.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro discussed the incident during a press conference, stating that Comperatore died while protecting his family. He described Comperatore as a dedicated firefighter and a committed member of his community.
Comperatore’s sister, Dawn Comperatore Schafer, addressed the tragedy in a Facebook post, where she shared that her brother had been a hero who shielded his daughters during the incident.
The shooting has been classified as an assassination attempt. The shooter, positioned on a building outside the venue, was neutralized by Secret Service agents. The FBI is leading the investigation, working with state and local law enforcement to gather more details.
