It is not very often that major companies honor Americans of Italian descent, but one brand appears ready to stand out from the crowd with their latest video on Instagram alongside Mark Brucato, better known as Lil “Mo” Mozzarella. Lids, an athletic headwear retailer, chose to collaborate with the popular content creator in order to celebrate Italian American Heritage and Culture Month, which takes place annually during October (coinciding with Columus Day) to recognize the contributions of Italian immigrants and Italian Americans to the fabric of the United States.
The video opens with a title frame that reads “Celebrating Italian American Heritage Month with Lil Mo Mozzarella” before he explains his request for a customized New York Yankees hat with the Italian and American flags on either side. Additionally, Brucato also made sure to embroider his cap with his signature phrase: How Ya Doin!
Not only does Lil “Mo” Mozzarella benefit from the collaboration through added visibility amongst Lids’ 730k+ followers on Instagram, but the video also calls attention to the company’s custom offerings through the post’s caption to Lil Mo’s audience: “Want to represent your heritage? We’ve got every option available at your local Lids to truly customize your headwear!” A true win-win!
Brucato, who boasts over 600k followers on the platform himself, has grown a strong following within the Italian American community through his comical food critic reviews. This October, he may just be the first of many Italian Americans to customize their headwear with Italian flags now that the word is out. If you’re looking for a fun way to celebrate your roots during Italian American Heritage and Culture Month, Lids has you covered.
