If you’ve ever visited Florence, Italy, chances are you have heard of the famed Italian sandwich shop All’Antico Vinaio. Known as the most-reviewed “quick bite” on Tripadvisor in the world, All’Antico Vinaio is quickly expanding its footprint with locations in Italy in cities like Milan, Rome, and Naples, as well as internationally with a presence in the United States and the United Arab Emirates. Now, owner Tommaso “Tommy” Mazzanti will take his iconic brand to the largest train station in the world – Grand Central Terminal.
At 125 Park Avenue, All’Antico Vinaio will open its 8th location in New York City, just about 0.5 miles away from their Broadway storefront on the other side of Bryant Park. While comparing the potential foot traffic between the two might be difficult, as Grand Central sees over 750,000 people pass through it daily, all locations focus on the same three principles to ensure their success: Quality ingredients, fair prices, and a friendly staff.
Made on their signature Tuscan schiacciata bread, their sandwich menu features over fifteen different options with a variety of meats, herbs, and cheeses. Perhaps their most well-known sandwich is “La Favolosa,” featuring salame toscana, pecorino cream, artichoke cream, and spicy eggplant. The “L’Inferno” is also praised by regulars, which includes porchetta, nduja cream, grilled vegetables, and arugula.
Although the brand has Italian roots, its U.S. expansion seems to be the priority, with new locations coming soon in cities such as Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Nashville, and Las Vegas. If this rapid growth continues, All’Antico Vinaio could be on its way to becoming a globally recognized name.
