The annual Sagra Delle Fragole or Strawberry Festival, that has taken place since 1922 in the Castelli Romani region south of Rome, specifically in the town of Nemi, is a much anticipated event that has visitors from both near and far. Nemi is known for their amazing strawberries and the festival is always held the first Sunday in June. This year’s festivities will take place on Sunday June 2nd, 2024, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and will end at 6:00 p.m. when the delicious strawberries will be distributed to all of the attendees free of charge. Tradition calls for a huge goblet filled with strawberries to be covered with spumante fragolino (strawberry sparkling wine) and offered to visitors. All sorts of strawberry based delicacies are sold at the festival including desserts, ice cream, jam, syrups and liquors.
