1. Italian men are much more concerned about how they present themselves. For example, American men often air dry their hair while Italian men are more likely to blow dry theirs.

2. American men are more likely to expect the woman to make the first move whereas Italian men almost always make the first move.

3. Italian men are often considered to be more charming/smooth talkers.

4. American men are more reserved in expressing themselves when compared to Italian men.

5. Men in Italy are more likely to smoke and men in America are more likely to drink.

  1. American lads tend to focus on one chick at a time whereas Italian lads play the numbers & often don’t seem to even care which one they end up with as long as they’ve caught something with their…tackle

  2. American culture has synthetically evolved (not for the better) much over the last couple of decades from top-down pressure & resulted in American lads being even more repressed sexually/re masculinity than other anglophone lads.

i.e. They’re constantly worried about not being called “gay”. Surprising to Europeans is their extreme discomfort with male nudity (esp given America’s ostensible obsession with sex in entertainment & media). They’re uncomfortable undressing even as grown adult men in all-male locker rooms, for example. European guys are so used to stripping off round one another (many thermal spas actually REQUIRE full nudity), showering in open showers without cubicles, pissing side-by side without dividers into open troughs, etc. American lads will attempt to hide themselves under their towels, won’t stand next to one another even at urinals with dividing walls & will turn away towards the corner if ever out in the open. Aside from US military guys, it all comes across as quite curious to European lads, esp Italian boys, who will begin swinging their tackle in your face, without request, before you’ve even set your belongings down.

American men’s more reserved, seemingly timid & less aggressive approach (i e. even compared to other anglophones like Brits), even when they’re often quite large imposing men by physical comparison, is often seen as sweet, more mature & “gentle giant” like, viewed more as long-term husband material, while Italian lads will be seen more as fukkbuddy fling material.

In stark contrast, sexuality & masculinity in Italy have long histories of fluidity & self-assuredness, so Italian men will compliment & seemingly playfully flirt (from an American POV) with both guys & gals frequently & shamelessly. They never worry about how their masculinity is being perceived & are more likely to worry whether their hair is still looking good & checking themselves out in passing mirrors (unlike American lads, who are perhaps almost too little concerned with their physical appearance).

Both are very easy going, fun & funny lads who don’t take themselves too seriously, joke round easily & are easy & comfortable to chat up as strangers. American & Italian lads tend to get on very well & very easily because of all these similarities, despite Italian lads seeming a bit “metrosexual” to Americans & Americans seeming under-groomed & lacking (fitted) style to Italians (though this is finally rapidly changing). Both types are ultimately pretty non-judgmental in striking up casual conversations, while friendships with southern Italians are more likely to be more superficial & fleeting vs friendships with northern Italians, harder to obtain, but closer to what American lads would be used to.

Italian lads from Sicily still date as in the 50s, very slowly w/chaperones, lest they incur familial/community wrath… almost more like the more socially liberal but still sexually conservative North African Muslim cultures.
