According to a recent EU report on Italian healthcare, “State of Health in the EU: Italy”, out of all European countries, Italy has the highest cancer survival rate.
According to the report, “Five-year survival rates following diagnosis for these and other cancers were slightly higher in Italy than in other EU countries, suggesting the health system is generally able to provide effective and timely treatments.” Five-year survival rates for various cancers reveal the following survival rates for Italy compared to other European countries.
Lung Cancer:
Italy: 16% EU: 15%
Prostate Cancer:
Italy: 90% EU: 87%
Colon Cancer
Italy: 64% Eu: 60%
Breast Cancer
Italy: 86% Eu: 83%
