Italy has recorded its lowest death toll in over a week. The Guardian reported that the countries death toll was immensely decreased based on Tuesday’s figure of 837.

There were 2,937 new active cases within the week which reveals a 3.8% increase. However, this increase is down substantially compared to several weeks ago when cases were increasing at 3-4 times this rate.
According to health minister Roberto Speranza, “Experts say we are on the right track and the drastic measures we have taken are starting to yield results.” However, he did explain that it would be “unforgivable to assume this was a definitive defeat” of COVID-19, going on to state that it will be “a long battle.”
