New York currently has 138,836 coronavirus cases, making it the epicenter of the pandemic in the United States.
According to The Boston Globe, “New York City’s death toll from the coronavirus officially eclipsed the number of those killed at the World Trade Center on 9/11.”
Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York announced that the state recorded its biggest one-day increase in deaths from the coronavirus on April 7th. An additional 731 deaths brought the total death toll to 5,489.
While new hospitalizations have also risen, the three day average of hospitalizations has fallen. Therefore, many are hoping that this is the apex of the virus.
