For many people stuck at home, baking has become a family hobby and keeps Italian residents busy (and full) by whipping up their favorite desserts or dishes.
The flour mills throughout Italy have been working endlessly to keep up with the demand. One popular family-owned mill has had a 500% increase in orders just in March alone.
A shortage of flour has not happened since World War II were basic items such as flour, eggs and milk were in high demand.
Italian residents feel that stocking up on flour is an essential product to feed their families and people are rediscovering to make pizza, pasta and all kinds of desserts.
