Rome Celebrates 150 Years As Italy’s Capital 😍

The breathtaking, culture-filled city of Rome is celebrating its 150th anniversary as the capital of Italy.

Italy has gone through an entire year of celebrating this 150th anniversary! The celebrations began in February of 2020 and lasted until February 3rd, 2021. While initiating the ceremony, Virginia Raggi who is the mayor said, “Rome is a welcoming, international city. A city open to all. It always will be.”

She continued, “Today we kick off the year of celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the designation of Rome as the capital of the Italians. On February 3, 1871, Rome was indicated as the seat of the main institutions of the new unitary state”.Β 

The ceremony included beautiful music by Bocelli and composerΒ Ezio Bosso who both cited Β Goethe’s statement regarding Rome as the “capital of the world”.
