Italy Bans AstraZeneca COVID Vaccine for Under-60s After Teen Death

In Italy, the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine has been banned for those under 60.

An 18-year-old woman from Liguria, Italy named Camilla Canepa received the vaccine on May 25th and passed this Thursday due to blood clotting.

Camilla experienced a brain hemorrhage and abdominal blood clots.

Italy’s COVID commissioner Francesco Figliuolo explained, “AstraZeneca will only be used for people over 60.” “The changed epidemiological situation has led to a reassessment of the risk-benefit ratio for age groups less at risk of severe forms of Covid-19,” he stated.

Italy temporally stopped AstraZeneca shots over the fear of blood clotting in youth. A quarter of a million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine were manufactured near Rome have been blocked.
