With 51 different Italian locations listed as having historical or cultural significance, Italy has the largest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the World. While these are dotted across all areas of the country, there are six in Tuscany. Here is an overview of these six amazing places, each of which you should try to visit if you are staying in Tuscany.
1. The Historic Center of Florence
Florence is credited as being the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. Right across the city, there are stunning examples of Renaissance art and architecture. It is also the center of medieval finance and trade.
2. Piazza del Duomo, Pisa
Pisa is one of the top cities for medieval art. The Piazza del Duomo is famous for its four stunning religious buildings; the Leaning Tower, the Camposanto, the Duomo, and the Baptistry. Each of these amazing structures attracts huge numbers of tourists to Pisa each year.

4. Historic Center of Siena
Siena is an ancient Roman town that features an abundance of medieval architecture. Some of the most popular attractions are the cathedral, the town square and Siena’s museums.
5. Historic Center of Pienza
Originally, Pienza was a Renaissance village. During the 15th-century and under the patronage of Pope Pius II, it was rebuilt as a model town.
6. Val d’Orcia
This beautiful area of Italian countryside is famous as it is depicted in many pieces of artwork and is used as a location in many films. Val s’Orcia lies between the hills in south Siena and the Monte Amiata. It was designated as a World Heritage Site in 2004.
