James Gandolfini’s son, Michael Gandolfini, will be playing a young version of Tony Soprano in the movie The Many Saints of Newark.

What better person to play the role of one of the most notable and distinguishable characters in television’s history than that person’s very own son? We all know that James Gandolfini is looking down on his son with great pride.
At only 19 years old, Michael Gandolfini will be the star of The Many Saints of Newark which is the prequel of the outstanding HBO television series, The Sopranos.
In deep appreciation of this opportunity, Michael Gandolfini states, ” “It’s a profound honor to continue my dad’s legacy while stepping into the shoes of a young Tony Soprano”.
The Many Saints of Newark was co-written by David Chase, the creator of The Sopranos. The cast will consist of some of the old characters from The Sopranos as well as Alessandro Nivola, Cory Stoll, Billy Magnussen, Jon Bernthal, and Vera Farmiga. The movie is set during the 1967 Newark riots between African-Americans and Italians. The entire premise of the movie is currently unknown but it is said to contain themes similar to those in The Sopranos.
