Frank Sinatra

​Francis Albert Sinatra was born on December 12, 1915. He was one of the best-known and influential singers of the 20th century. He also worked as an actor and a producer. He died on May 14, 1998.

Dean Martin

​Dean Martin is a stage name as this actor’s real name at birth was Dino Paul Crocetti. He was born in Ohio on June 7, 1917. His father was Italian and his mother Italian-American. Dean Martin was a singer, an actor, a comedian and a film producer. He died on Christmas Day in 1995 at the age of 78.

Tony Bennet

Born Anthony Dominick Benedetto, Tony Bennett is famous for jazz songs and big band tunes. In addition to his singing career, he is also a talented painter and paints under the name Anthony Benedetto. He was born on August 3, 1926. 

Perry Como

​Perry Como’s real name is Pierino Ronald Como and he was born in Pennsylvania on May 18, 1912. Alongside his singing career, he hosted a musical talent show called ‘Kraft Music Hall’. He died on May 12, 2001, aged 88 years.

Jerry Vale

​Jerry Vale was an Italian-American singer and actor whose career was at its peak in the 1950s and 1960s. He sang many of his ballads in Italian. He was born on July 8, 1930, and died on May 18, 2014.

Mario Lanza

​Alfred Arnold Cocozza was born in Pennsylvania on January 31, 1921. He used Mario Lanza as his stage name. Lanza is a famous tenor and actor whose career peaked in the 1940s and 1950s. He suffered from addictions to alcohol and overeating throughout is adult life. He died of a heart attack at the age of just 38 in 1959. He died in a clinic while taking part in a controversial weight loss program.

  1. Wow, I just can’t get over how these Italian guys can SING! They have some kind of talent that is just different and remarkable! From Sinatra, Como, Damone, Darin, Dino, Tony B., Gennaro Louis Vitaliano (aka Jerry Vale) etc.; and then there’s the opera singers! What a lot of talent, I don’t know where they got it but they sure have it!
