With Easter right around the corner, why not impress your friends and family with this beautiful, traditional, and symbolic Easter bread that we Italians like to call “pane di Pasqua.

With different variations to this recipe, the wreath shape of the bread symbolizes the crown of thorns worn by Jesus, and the eggs placed in the bread represent birth and life.

For most Italians, Easter isn’t complete without indulging into this sweet yet delicate bread to end a massive Easter Feast.

Having said that, let’s get into the recipe!

You will need:

  • 3 Room Temperature Eggs
  • ½ cup of Warm Water
  • ½ cup of Milk
  • 1 Tsp of Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Tbsp of Orange Zest
  • ½ cup of Room Temperature Unsalted Butter
  • 2 ½ Tsp of Yeast
  • 2/3 cup of Sugar
  • 4 ½ cups of All Purpose Flour
  • 1 Tsp of Salt
  • Hard Boiled Eggs
  • Sprinkles
  • 1 Egg (beaten with a little water for the egg wash)
