As the cherry season is fast approaching, why not preserve some of that sweet cherry taste by making liquor out of them? Check out this simple recipe for cherry liquor that makes a great summer treat!
You will need:
• 2.5 lbs of Fresh Sweet Cherries
• 400g of Sugar
• 1 Litre of 100% Alcohol
- Start by cleaning and de-pitting the cherries.
- In a glass jar or bottle, combine the cleaned cherries with the sugar and let this sit for 1 week while shaking the mixture one to three times each day.
- After 1 week, add the alcohol to your cherry and sugar mixture, shake everything up, then store the liquor in your cantina and let the cherries infuse into the alcohol for up to 3 months.
After the 3 months of waiting is over, you can enjoy this sweet liquor on ice, as a digestivo, and even poured over gelato!
