Jeans are an item of clothing worn by both men and women across the globe. They are used for workwear, casual wear and also for dressing up. Many different styles are available to suit different body shapes. Most people associate jeans with America and cowboys. However, this popular item of clothing originates from Italy. Denim, the fabric from which jeans are made, was first made in the 17th century in the northern Italian city of Genoa and sailors wore this cloth.

Batteries are something that you probably use in so many different household objects that you probably have never passed a second of thought to the invention of these invaluable items. From small kitchen appliances to children’s toys, there are countless items in your home that require batteries to work. They were invented by Italian Alessandro Volta in 1799. Volt, the unit of measurement, is also named after this inventor.
4) The Piano

There are few instruments that can play such diverse sounds as the piano. Although there were many earlier variations of this instrument, the modern form of the piano was invented by Italian musical instrument maker Bartolomeo Cristofori in 1698. Music played on this instrument or technologically advanced versions of it is something that you probably hear on a daily basis.

Most people have at least one bank account and online or mobile banking is increasing in popularity. Banking is all part of how we complete our financial transactions and save money. Yet, have you ever wondered about the origins of banking that have now led to this system being the norm? The first banking system was created during the Renaissance in Northern Italy in 1462.

Highways, also known as motorways in many countries, are one of the best developments in traffic systems in the modern age. They allow a large volume of traffic to quickly take direct routes to their destinations. The first official highway ever built was by the Italians in 1923. This connected Milan and Laghi.
