Italian Bars Started Using Pasta Straws to Reduce Plastic Waste

What better way to help the environment than to stop using plastic straws, and what better alternative than pasta straws? Plastic straws are not biodegradable and nonrecyclable. According to Stanford University "It is estimated that there are now 150 million metric tons of plastic in the ocean. We add another 8 million tons each year – that’s about five grocery bags full of plastic waste on every foot of shoreline around the world." In order to cut down on ocean plastic, the European Union voted in order to ban single plastic items by 2021.
