Are you a red wine drinker? What about a chocolate fanatic? Get the best of both worlds with this rich Italian red wine and chocolate cake recipe by Una Favola in Cucina.
Ingredients for Cake:
- 150 Ml of Red Wine
- 150 Grams of Chocolate Fondant
- 250 Grams of Softened Butter
- 230 Grams of Granulated Sugar
- 4 Eggs
- 220 Grams of All Purpose Flour
- 50 Grams of Cocoa
- 16 Grams of Yeast
Ingredients for Glaze:
- 100 Grams of Granulated Sugar
- 50 Grams of Cocoa
- 60 Ml of Red Wine
Directions:
- Start heating the wine in a saucepan.
- Then melt the chocolate into pieces, over low heat and set aside.
- In a bowl, pour the sugar and the soft butter into pieces, start to work everything with an electric mixer, until you get a soft creamy sauce. Add the eggs, one at a time, work the first well before adding the other.
- Pour the melted chocolate first and continue to work with the mixer. Then add the lukewarm wine.
- Once the dough has worked well, pour the sifted flour and continue to whisk. Add the sifted cocoa and yeast.
- Mix everything well and finally mix the dough with a spatula and pour it into a 24 cm buttered and floured hinge mold.
- Cook the cake in a static oven, already warm at 170° for 60 minutes.
- For the glaze, pour the sugar, cocoa and wine into a sauce pan and mix with a whisk over low heat for 5 minutes.
- Remove the cake from the oven and once it has cooled, pour the glazeover the cake and serve!
