Cannoli Coffee Cake – Recipe ☕️🍰

Cannoli coffee cake is a cannoli lovers dream breakfast! Serve it with some coffee and try not to eat the whole tray!

I was searching for a great coffee cake recipe and came across this cannoli coffee cake by I Scream For Buttercream! The base of this is vanilla cake with cannoli crumbs on top and cream cheese filling. I substituted cream cheese for mascarpone and I added a little ricotta and orange zest to the filling. I also added smashed cannoli shells to the crumb topping! I’ve added my substitutions to the ingredients list below but keep in mind they are not on the printable version which is the original recipe! This serves 15.


Cream cheese filling:

  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese
  • 8 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

Crumb topping:

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup smashed store bought cannoli shells
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

Vanilla cake:

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup softened unsalted butter
