Italian politician Gianluigi Paragone, a former senator for the anti-establishment 5Star Movement, said it was time for Italy to launch its Italexit campaign ‘ No Europe for Italy’.
“We can no longer be blackmailed by countries that offend the great prestige of Italy,” Paragone said before launching the campaign.
Paragone has hopes of capitalizing on the anti-EU sentiment in Italy after the coronavirus pandemic. Italy, being one of the hardest-hit countries had received little to no help from the EU during its hardest times of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The “No Europe for Italy” campaign is said to be following in the same path as the Brexit campaign that allowed Britain to be removed from the EU.
