The Struggles Michelangelo Faced When Painting the Sistine Chapel

Michelangelo is one of the most admired and lionized artists in all of history.

Nevertheless, the creation of his art, including the Sistine Chapel was in no way simple. The ceiling of the Sistine Chapel is over 60 feet high! Therefore, Michelangelo had to become even more innovative in order to paint and impress the Pope. He also had to remove all of the old plaster, work in very warm conditions, paint in Fresco which is one of the most complex art forms, all while the chapel was still open!
