5 Ingredient Torrone Semifreddo Recipe 😍

This chocolate hazelnut dessert is the best frozen treat!

This delicious dessert is made of only 5 ingredients! Torino is known for it’s desserts, hence the name torrone. Torroncino combines the semi frozen dessert semifreddo and the incredible nougat treat torrone. Serve with chocolate sauce for a yummy sweet treat! This recipe from Eataly makes 4 servings.Β 


  • 4Β½ ounces hazelnut torrone, chopped into crumbs
  • 3Β½ ounces dark chocolate, chopped
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1ΒΌ cups heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup sugar


  1. Combine the sugar with 1/3 cup water in a saucepan, and bring to a boil. Pour the mixture over the egg yolks in a separate bowl, and whisk until cool.

  2. Whip ΒΎ cup of the cream to soft peaks in a small bowl. Fold this and the torrone into the yolk mixture.

  3. Pour into a loaf pan, smoothing the top. Cover in plastic wrap, and freeze until firm, at least 8 hours.

  4. Scald the remaining cream in a small saucepan, and whisk in the chocolate. Place about 1 tablespoon of this chocolate sauce on each plate. Cut the still-chilled semifreddo into 4 slices, and place 1 slice over the chocolate sauce.

Note: The semifreddo can be frozen for up to 2 days. Let soften for 15 minutes in the refrigerator before serving.
