On Thursday, Tribeca Enterprises explained that it will launch a series of film premieres and musical performances called Tribeca Fall Preview. This event will begin on September 22nd with the premiere of The Many Saints of Newark. The movie will be in theaters and on HBO Max on October 1st.
The Many Saints of Newark is a prequel movie to the popular series “The Sopranos”. The movie was written by David Chase, the creator of “The Sopranos”. It will be about Tony Soprano’s life. The film is said to be set between 1968-1975.
It will tell the story of young Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini). Michael Gandolfini is playing the role of his late father, James Gandolfini. There is no better character to play Tony Soprano than his son Michael who has his mannerisms down to a tee and resembles his late father in numerous ways.
According to Variety, Chase explained, “I am thrilled to be participating in a festival that will call attention to cinema and the arts in NYC, at such a pivotal time. I think it’s just great that Tribeca is hosting this series.” Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro co-founded Tribeca Festival and stated, “When it premiered on HBO in 1999, The Sopranos made an immediate cultural impact and cemented its place as one of television’s greatest dramas.” They went on to explain, “We look forward to launching this exciting new festival with The Many Saints of Newark, the latest Sopranos story from David Chase.”
