Frank Sinatra is one of the best-known and most successful Italian-Americans in the music industry and sold over 150 million records throughout his career. He has even continued to sell records since his death on May 14, 1998. He has had many hit singles and one of his best-known is ‘The Way You Look Tonight’.
However, Sinatra was not the first to sing this particular track, which was written by Dorothy Fields and Jerome Kern. Originally, the song was performed by Fred Astaire in the 1936 musical comedy film ‘Swing Time’. The song was then covered in the same year by Bing Crosby and Dixie Lee, who was Crosby’s wife at the time.
