One of Italian pop tenor Andrea Bocelli’s most popular performances is that of Canto Della Terra. This song was composed by Francesco Sartori and the lyrics are written by Lucio Quarantotto. It was this duo that was responsible for writing Bocelli’s hit ‘Con te Partiro’.

This song was the second single released from Bocelli’s 1999 album ‘Sogno’ and it soon became one of his best-known songs. It peaked at 24 on the UK singles charts.  In 2008, he recorded this song as a duet with Sarah Brightman and it featured on her album ‘Symphony’. Bocelli’s original version of the song was also included in the greatest hits album he released in 2007 called ‘The Best of Andrea Bocelli: Vivere’.

Many others have covered this song since it was first released. ‘The X Factor’ winner Joe McElderry and Cheryl Baker of ‘Bucks Fizz’ sang this as a duo in 2011 when they performed together on the second series of ‘Popstar to Operastar’. McElderry then recorded a solo version of the song after winning the show for ‘Classic’, his second album.

However, it is still Andrea Bocelli’s original version of the song that remains the most popular and you can watch him performing ‘Canto Della Terra’ here:
