Take a Food and Wine Tour

The cuisine of Parma is some of the most famous in the world. The region is particularly well-known for Parma ham and Parmesan cheese. A food tour gives you the opportunity to sample some of the finest food Parma has to offer.

Visit Galleria Nazionale

Some of the most talented artists the world has ever seen have work displayed at this gallery. Most of the exhibits are from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. There are works from artists including Barbieri, Da Vinci and van Dyck.

Taste Wine at Enoteca Fontana

In addition to its wonderful food, Parma is also famed for its wine production. Enoteca Fontana is one of the best places to sample some of the wines produced in the area.

Go to Museo Glauco Lombardi

The theme of this museum is the life story of Napoleon Bonaparte and his wife, Marie-Louise of Hamburg. The museum was once the home of the Empress Marie Louise and now is home to some fascinating artefacts relating to the life of Napolean.

Take a Trip to Battistero di Parma

The octagonal Baptistry of Parma was built in the late 12th century. Its style is a combination of Gothic and Romanesque. It is particularly striking as it is built from pink marble. The interior is covered with paintings and frescoes.

Visit Cattedrale di Parma

Parma’s cathedral is one of the most beautiful and architecturally interesting structures in the city. It was built between the 11th and 12th centuries and was decorated by Antonio da Correggio, a famous fresco painter of that time. Various educational workshops and exhibitions are held in the cathedral throughout the year.

Enjoy a Performance at Teatro Regio

The program at this theater varies throughout the year. If possible, you should try to see an operatic performance during your vacation. Each season, four different operas are performed. Also, the Verdi Festival is hosted at this venue annually.
