BEST Italian Lemon Pound Cake 🍋

This Italian lemon pound cake has a moist texture and the perfect citrus flavor!

  • 3 cups all-purpose  flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup of sour cream
  • 4 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. of fresh ginger, minced
  • Zest of 2 lemons ( about 2 tbsps.)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla




    1. Buy Bob red mill 1 to 1 flour I substitute it in all recipes .I also have 2 grown children with celiac.if you have pinterest follow a girl on there she has great recipes she goes by the gluten free palate.

    1. you can make your own, just google “buttermilk recipe.” It is just milk mixed with some type of acidy ingredient to curdle the milk a bit to turn it “buttery”

    2. I think buttermilk is easy to make. I think you just add a little vinegar to some regular milk. If you Google it, you could probably get a recipe for it. Hope that helps!

    3. Use milk: stir in 1tbsp of white vinger or lemon juice to 1 cup of milk. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to get full effect

  1. When I first saw the picture I wondered where the yellow color came from.
    I made the recipe, but could not find any coloring to be added, and naturally never got the yellow coloring as illustrated in the photo from just using the stated ingredients. . Was this simply an oversight? I used Stevia instead of sugar for the main recipe, and never got any off taste doing this, but I did use icing sugar for the toppings and did find this really sweet.
