Osteria Trulli is nestled in the suburbs of Chicago and features incredible authentic Pugliese cuisine.
Osteria Trulli is a one of a kind Pugliese restaurant featuring some of the best regional Italian food in the Chicago area. If you aren’t familiar with Puglia, it is a region located in southeastern Italy and is the birthplace of some of my family, friends and my absolute favorite foods! It’s also one of my favorite places to stay in Italy; it’s beautiful and I highly recommend visiting! Some well known typical foods of Puglia include burrata cheese, orecchiette pasta, focaccia bread, panzerotti and taralli. Puglia has incredible seafood and olives as well!
Everything on Osteria Trulli’s menu is delicious and made from scratch; Chef Giovanni DeNigris uses only the best ingredients in his dishes and stays true to his Pugliese roots. You will not find spaghetti and meatballs on this menu, it is extremely authentic and regionally specific. They serve incredible bread to start from local bakery Casa Nostra Bakery (you will not want to share, it is so good) and have an extensive Italian wine list. The pasta here is handmade, simple and rustic; portions are generous and meant to be shared.
Zampina is a sausage typical of Bari, Puglia and fried zucchini flowers are a seasonal speciality!
They also make the best Aperol Spritz!
And incredible mortadella and burrata pizza!
It’s hard to choose one dessert from their menu but the spumoni is outstanding!
The interior is romantic and intimate, designed to look like the famous Trulli in Alberobello, Puglia. Having been to Alberobello, it really made me feel like I was back in Italy enjoying some of my favorite dishes!
