Iconic Chicago Italian Restaurant Gene & Georgetti Closes Second Location

The Rosemont location says goodbye after only 5 years due to Covid-19.

Gene & Georgetti is the oldest family-owned Italian steakhouse in Chicago and recently opened its Rosemont location in 2015. Due to Covid-19, the restaurant has been forced to shut down after being unable to pay $120,000 in property taxes.

Fifty percent of the restaurants’ revenue is based on events and banquets and with Illinois social distancing mandates in place, they are unable to operate in the majority of their space.

The last day to enjoy their classic pasta and steaks in Rosemont will be October 31st. Gene & Georgetti’s River North location, at 500 N. Franklin St., will remain open.
