Venetian Polenta Cookies – Zaleti Recipe šŸ‡®šŸ‡¹

Zaleti are rustic yellow cookies from Veneto made with polenta, raisins and pine nuts!

These rustic cookies are typical of Veneto and made of polenta, pine nuts and raisins. They are delicious enjoyed with grappa or wine! This recipe by Anna Maria Volpi is one of my favorites.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups (270 g) polenta yellow cornmeal
  • 1 1/2 (210 g) cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 12 tablespoon (165 g) unsalted butter, cold
  • 3/4 cup dark raisin
  • 2 large eggs
  • grated zest of one lemon
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • powdered sugar for finishing
