Pasta Al Forno – AMAZING Recipe

There really isn't anything like this pasta that's made with bolognese ragu sauce, bechamel, mozzarella, parmigiano reggiano and baked to perfection!

INGREDIENTS

For the sauce

  • 3 tbsp olive oil extra virgin
  • 1 cup onion diced finely
  • 1 cup carrot diced finely
  • 1 cup celery diced finely
  • 500 grams ground beef (1.1 lb)
  • 500 grams ground pork (1.1 lb)
  • 1/3 cup red wine
  • 2 jars tomato passata 680 mL per bottle
  • 1 can peeled plum tomatoes 28 oz can, crushed with a fork 
  • salt and pepper to taste

For the bechamel

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 liter whole milk
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • salt to taste

For the pasta

  • 1 kg penne (2.2 lbs)
  • 2 cups grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated parmigiano reggiano
